You have probably heard or read about people making good money with internet marketing and might be wondering is internet marketing a good career and something you should consider for yourself.
If you’re thinking about becoming an internet marketer, you should know these realities of the business.
Internet and it’s ever growing user base has made it possible to make money online anywhere in the world by marketing online.
Even though the competition has gotten tougher, the potential to make money online is better than ever.
But it’s of course not a walk in the park to be a successful internet marketer. Otherwise everybody would be doing it.
Let’s start by looking at the realities of internet marketing and what kind of money can you expect to earn as a successful internet marketer.
There are a bit over 4 billion users in the internet today and the numbers keep growing as technology and infrastructure advances even to the farthest corners of earth.
The competition in internet marketing has gotten tougher compared to the early days of internet. But so has the opportunities as the user base has exploded and companies have realized the potential in affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is by far the most common way marketers make money on the internet. In essence a company gives the marketer fraction of the profit when they refer a buying customer.
Large online stores like Amazon have realized the potential of affiliate marketing and both the companies and their affiliate marketers have made fortunes using this model.
This is why you can market almost anything these days online. From sports apparel to information products. Or from coffee beans to airsoft guns.
Unlike you might expect a successful marketer doesn’t have to be very experienced with technology. Things like coding are not necessary to be successful in marketing
Content management systems have evolved to the point that anyone who can use email and a smart phone has all the necessary know-how to begin creating a marketing site. Experience and know how in information technology is of course useful and makes the process easier.
What really is important for a successful internet marketer is the ability to write or create other compelling content like YouTube videos. If you are not a natural writer, don’t worry about. It’s a skill that can be learned like everything else.
In marketing simple and easy to understand language is more important than perfect punctuation. To make revenue with your content you have to earn how to sell. This means creating trust with your readers by offering honest and useful information.
The potential to make a career in internet marketing is possible to anyone willing to learn the ropes and work hard for it.
Here’s the thing. To be really successful in internet marketing, you need to treat it like real business. You can’t just work on it every now and then when you feel like it.
It takes consistent hard work to build a successful money earning business.
It means creating high quality content every single week.
It means developing your site and content constantly and making sure everything is up to date, content and software security included.
It means keeping up with legislation so you don’t end up committing crimes by accidents.
But if you manage to do all that and create a successful online marketing business. There are A LOT of pros. Let’s talk about them first!
You get to decide what to create content about
When you run an online marketing business, you of course get to decide what you wish to market in your content and what your content is about.
Many people don’t realize how important it is for their well-being that someone else is not telling them what to do.
When you are your own boss you can choose to create content only about things that interest you.
You might be someone to whom it’s important to write about ethical or spiritual topics or you might be someone who just wants to talk about sports. It doesn’t matter, you are the boss.
You can market almost anything these days and the only thing that matters is that your content is interesting to at least SOME people. Once you have traffic to your site, it’s only a matter of finding a way to monetize it.
Now don’t get me wrong. Some niches are more profitable than others. It can require quite a bit of imagination to monetize some weirder niches but usually it’s possible.
A successful marketer offers solutions to problems. This means the content you create as a marketer is actually meant to help people.
There are few things in life that offer more sense of accomplishment and satisfaction than knowing you have helped countless of strangers all around the world with your information. And you get to make a buck while doing it!
I’m writing this post sitting on a beautiful rooftop terrace in Pärnu, Estonia.
I’m sipping on a cold cider with my small traveling laptop on my lap top. Our residence doesn’t have WiFi so I’m writing on hard drive and I will share the internet connection from my phone to post this later on.
You see, the technology has evolved to the point that it’s possible to go online almost anywhere for a very affordable price.
This makes it possible for an internet marketer to work from anywhere in the world with very small investment.
Your main tools are all online so all you need is an internet connection to update and communicate every now and then.
So if you are someone who likes to travel or wants to change scenery every now and then, this is a great advantage of running an online business. Complete freedom of location.
This is a huge one. When you start a successful internet marketing business your typical income structure will be quite different from a normal job or a brick and mortar business.
In a typical job or business you either get paid a fixed salary every month or by the hours of work you put in. The point is that you get compensated for your work quite fast, for one time.
You then work some more the next month to keep your job and earn a new paycheck. I’m sure I don’t need to open this up more to you and you are familiar with the concept.
In a typical brick and mortar business you take a large loan to be able to rent or buy an office and inventory etc. (these of course depend a lot on the business).
You typically start making money quite fast if you have done your research but it takes a long time to start making profit because of the large debt.
When you start an internet marketing business it takes next to no investment. You need a computer and an internet connection, but since most people have them anyways and both can be acquired dirt cheap these days, it’s not a big deal.
The only thing you really need to invest in is a hosting service and probably some education if you want to succeed.
After that comes the hardest part. You will need too work on the business producing content FOR MONTHS without expecting any revenue.
Yes, you read that correctly, months. Some times over a year.
This is because search engines like Google don’t give authority to new sites. They won’t rank your content until you have enough of it and your site is being constantly updated for long enough.
But once your content starts to rank in Google and you start receiving traffic, the magic starts to happen.
Suddenly the articles you wrote months ago are producing traffic and you start receiving revenue from work you did months ago!
And the best part is just coming!
The work you put in month ago will potentially earn you revenue for months or years to come on complete autopilot! That’s the holy grail of internet marketing, passive income.
Once your site has matured enough for the search engines to rank the content, all the new articles you write will rank much faster. Instead of months some times almost instantly.
After that the income potential grows exponentially. It’s only a matter of how much high quality content you can put out.
This is usually the point it where it becomes wise to outsource at least some of the work or hire writers. That way your business will grow rapidly.
So in a way your work and revenue is cumulative in internet marketing. It takes perseverance, tenacity and faith to keep working on your business every day while not earning a penny in the beginning.
But if or when you succeed (and you will if you really want to) you will get compensated exponentially for all the work you put in growing your business.
So as you can see there is a lot of good stuff going for internet marketing. It’s of course not all bells and whistles so let’s look at some of the cons of working as an independent online marketer.
For some people this can be a pro but to most it’s a con, especially after a while.
You work alone. You don’t have colleagues to shoot the shit with or you don’t get immediate feedback about the quality of your work from a supervisor. So it gets lonely.
You have to able to write or produce quality content otherwise (video, maybe audio) to be successful in internet marketing.
This means you are pretty much on your own with your experience and talent.
You also need to do a lot of research on your own. No one is going to search low competition keywords for you or give you good topics or ideas for content. So once again, it’s completely up to you.
This is the price of freedom. You get to decide about everything, but you are also responsible of everything. Including failure.
The internet is an ever changing entity. The search engine algorithms are also constantly changing. This means the things Google uses to rank your site today might not apply tomorrow.
Every time Google has made a large update to its algorithms many marketers have lost their positions on the first page of Google. This means they are also losing revenue.
Usually they have achieved their first page rankings with completely approved methods but as Google changes they way it determines page relevance to the search term it can effect rankings severely.
That’s why it’s important to focus on producing high quality relevant content instead of building backlinks or stuffing your content with keywords. Everything else should come naturally.
The other thing marketer have to be constantly aware of is legislation. Not just in their home country but globally.
The internet is a global entity and most legislation concerns companies outside of their jurisdiction as people can visit websites from all over the world.
Good example of this is the recent GDPR legislation of the European Union. It affects any company on the internet that might have visitors from the EU. So pretty much the whole internet.
Failure to keep up with the global legislation as a marketer could get you in to big trouble so you have quite a lot of studying to do.
Fortunately places like Wealthy Affiliate keep their users up to date with the legal stuff and even give out pre written disclaimers.
The fact is that you can’t start making money instantly with internet marketing.
In theory an experienced marketer might be able to pull that off with paid traffic but since you are reading this you shouldn’t expect that.
It can take over a year of constant work to start seeing significant revenue. Some make it faster, others slower. It really depends on the niche and how hard and smartly you work. Everyone has different results.
So if you are unemployed and in dire need of cash, just becoming an internet marketer is not the right solution for you.
Instead, you should get a job to pay the bills and start learning and creating content so maybe after a year or so you can quit the job.
Internet marketing is not rocket science. However there are certain rules you need to know to become successful.
If you don’t educate yourself and just start working randomly, you might end up putting in the same amount of effort a successful marketer has, without seeing any results. Effectively wasting your hard work.
That’s why it’s extremely important to invest in an education. Just like with any other career, you can’t expect to learn everything for free.
Things like keyword research, web hosting, content creation and legislation all are pretty simple when someone shows you how to do it right.
Trying to do it all on your own becomes a tedious task that can end up badly with a lawsuit in extreme cases.
My number one recommendation for learning internet marketing is Wealthy Affiliate. I wrote a thorough review about the service here.
It’s basically an all-in-one service for marketers with the price tag of a high quality hosting service (which is included). You would have to invest in a hosting service as a marketer anyway, so it really is a no brainer to go with WA.
Phew! If you made it this far, thanks for reading and please drop a comment on your thoughts about internet marketing as a career.
I do think it’s a profession that offers great freedom and the pros far out weight the cons. But don’t be fooled and think it doesn’t take work.
If you are willing to accept that and ready to put in the work I suggest you get started right now. Taking action is the first step to success!
If you have any questions, please ask and I will do my best to answer them.
Today I’m going to write about a little bit of a different topic and more from a personal point of view: I don’t want to go back to work. I want to share my thoughts about going back to work in case it might help someone else dreading returning to their job.
I’m on my summer holiday from my day job and I have been working on my side business here on I Hate Working. The summer has been crazy good so far. We have had actual sunshine and warm temperatures after two cold summers.
I’m enjoying every second of it and really don’t want to go back to work. Fortunately, I still have a couple weeks of holiday left.
Just the thought of endless days at work during the dark winter months makes me physically nauseous. It feels like a different world compared to the one I am living in right now.
This takes us to my first tip.
When you are on a holiday or some other break from work, it really doesn’t help to think about work. You probably can’t (or shouldn’t) do anything to contribute to your job so it’s no use to think about it at all.
Sure it can be tough to not think about work, but if you actively try to avoid it you can be pretty successful. Returning to work after a break is probably going to suck as much regardless how much you think about it while away.
Worrying about it the whole time you are away doesn’t make it any easier, it actually makes it harder. You are enforcing a negative though pattern you have associated with your job. So once you do return to work, all that built up anxiety is going to make it even harder.
So focus on relaxing and doing things that make you happy. You deserve it!
Like I said, just the thought of my day job and winter makes me physically nauseous at this point as I’m enjoying the freedom and summer so much. It makes my stomach turn.
That’s why I’m doing everything in my power to not to think about my day job.
This means I avoid going to the part of the town where my office is situated at.
It means I avoid reading the local news as the news are full of stuff associated with my work.
I have actually taken this so far that I have almost stopped following the news all together during my holiday. Not just the local ones. News are full of stuff reminding of my work, if not directly then indirectly.
News are full of negative and stressful stuff and I really think it’s good take a break from them also every now and then. Even though I do think intelligent people should follow the news and be aware of what’s happening in the society, locally and globally.
I also avoid socializing with people from my work place. If I bump in to some one, I say hi, but I refuse to talk about work related stuff.
I also avoid giving professional advice related to my work to people and tell them I’m on my holiday.
So I try to avoid anything that reminds me of my day job really. This way I get a real break from work and my mind get’s to refresh.
Like I mentioned before, dreading returning to work is complete waste of time. You could be using that time to enjoy yourself or do something productive, like building a business or educating yourself on something useful.
I know some of my colleagues check their work email every day during their holiday and have their work phone with them. This is something I can’t understand. It’s like you never left the office in the first place.
The biggest thing that helps me go back to work is to know that I have a contingency plan. I’m building a business to work for myself.
Even though I’m on my holiday, I have dedicated time almost every day to work on my online business. This doesn’t feel like working though. It gives me a great feeling of accomplishment and makes me happy knowing I’m pushing my business forward every day.
If I were to stop working on my business during the holiday, I know I would feel hopeless returning to work. It would seem so much more permanent as I would know I’ve lost the momentum in building my online business. It’s very important to work on your business every day to get things rolling in the beginning.
During my holiday I also spend time doing other things I love. I hang out with family and friends, I play music, I lift at the gym, I walk in the nature, I go swimming, I travel.
Doing as much of these things as possible, now that I have the time, helps me remind me there are other things in life besides work.
During the winter it feels there’s just work and chores. It’s easy to get depressed and stressed when you lose sight of what life is really about.
It’s about the good times in case you missed it!
Knowing these things will be there even when returning to work makes it that much easier. You have to remember that work is just one small bit of your life, not its purpose.
The biggest thing that makes me dread returning to work is the stress. I work in an expert role and have quite a lot of responsibility.
There is always something that’s gone wrong from someones point of view. Lot of the stuff I do includes many parties and the end results rarely pleases everyone.
This is something that gives me quite a bit of stress. Many times I get complaints even when I did everything right. Fortunately I rarely get any complaints from my own organization. It’s the customers and associates.
I know logically I have done my work well but emotionally I feel like I have failed because of the constant negative feedback.
The last thing I don’t like is the lack of freedom. I love to travel and having full time desk jockey job means I only get to travel couple times a year.
If you are in a similar situation you should really think about what exactly are things that cause you not to want to go back to work. Then do your best to change that.
If you really hate the thought about going back to work it might be time to think about quitting your job. I wrote a post about how to do that correctly. There are other options so don’t lose hope!
There you have it. My reasons and tips for not wanting to go back to work. I hope they offer you some home help. Tell me what you think about them in the comments section below. I promise to get back to you!
So what are your reasons for not wanting to get back to work?
Thinking about quitting your job? I know how enticing it seems when you are dreading your work. Before you do any hasty decisions, please read on.
There are some important things to consider when quitting a job and you should not just storm out of the office doors banging. I know it can be hard when you are tired, stressed and angry to think about an exit strategy, but these things are crucial for your own well-being and future.
It’s important to have a plan and to keep your cool when planning to quit your job to not make any rushed decisions. It might be good time to also reflect on why you want to quit your job in the first place.
You might also feel like you are stuck in your situation and can’t see a way out. There are more options than you think, I promise you.
Read on for my tips on how to quit your job, the right way!
If you are seriously thinking about quitting your job, you should really take your time and think about why you want to quit. Is it the job description? The people? The hours? Maybe the long trips?
It’s important to understand what it is exactly you hate about your current situation so you don’t just end up in similar situation somewhere else, or even worse.
I would actually write a list about the things you hate or don’t like about your job or the situation it puts you in. I would then write positive things as well. So your typical pros and cons list.
If you for example realize you just don’t like the people at your job or that the way to work is too long it might be simply a question of finding a similar position closer somewhere else.
If on the other hand you hate the whole concept of working for others or the hours you are working it might be time to figure out something different like becoming self-employed.
Once you have a clear picture why you want to quit your job, it’s time to create an exit strategy.
Here’s the thing. The economy has taken a dive globally and the competition on the job market has gotten tough. A college education doesn’t guarantee employment, it’s the base requirement these days.
That’s why it would be idiotic to quit your job without a having a plan B of some sort.
You need to be realistic about quitting a job. No matter how horrible your current job feels like I guarantee you that long time unemployment and living in debt sucks even more.
If you are a regular person you need an income. Period.
You have a few options when it comes to a contingency plan.
You get the drift. The couple first ones are realistic for most people but hey, you never know about the rest ;).
What ever your contingency plan is, you need to make it happen before you quit your job. If you just quit your job and then start working on your new plans you are going to end up stressed and struggling to survive.
You are in a much better position in the job market while being employed. People looking at applications always put the unemployed applicants in an own pile. It always causes the question of why haven’t you been able to keep a job?
Even If you decide to start a business and become self-employed it’s going to take time to start making money. It’s better to start that process while receiving a steady paycheck and quit only when you have a supplemental income.
I know, I know. It would be freaking awesome to tell your boss you quit, tell him where to shove it and leave with doors banging.
Or tell the dickhead who’s been eating your lunch from the fridge every week, or the gossiping coffee room gang what you really think about them. But that’s not a wise idea.
Here’s why. I’m sure you’re familiar with the saying what comes around, goes around. If you are a bit older and have some life experience, you know this to be dauntingly true.
You just seem to bump into people from your past in the most unexpected situations. Sure, some go through life without experiencing this but they are just probably not paying attention.
I’m not a superstitious person by any means but some things in life make you wonder, you know? This is one of them.
I can’t count the times I’ve bumped into people at work that I have had trouble with in the past and thought I would never have to deal with again.
That’s why it’s extremely important to quit your job in professional and polite manner, no matter how rude the counterparts are. If your boss starts you yell at you or talk you down when you resign, just let it go past you. Be the bigger person.
Even when other people are rude to you and don’t seem to care about your feelings, they usually will not have hard feelings towards you in the future, if you maintain a calm and professional attitude.
Now I’m not saying to let anyone walk over you. You should always stand up for yourself. But be professional about it. Don’t yell, don’t talk trash or resort to violence. If someone is clearly out of line, go the official route. Press charges if need be.
If someone is being a dick you will always remember it. It is possible you will end up as their manager or business associate. Let others burn bridges, don’t do it yourself.
If you maintain good relations with your current employer it’s easier to get good recommendations. These are vital for future employment so now is a good time to update your resume. Once you have quit your job, ask for recommendations and a proof of employment for future use.
You might think you don’t need these now, but all work experience is valuable. Even if you decide to start a business of your own, you never now how things turn out. You might be looking for work some time in the future.
If you won’t ask for recommendations and a reference letter when you resign, you might not get them later on. Your boss might resign or the company can go bankrupt. You never know. It’s only wise to get proof of employment, even if you will never end up using it.
In my experience employers value nothing more than great recommendations from previous employers so it’s important to get these and keep them in a safe place. This is one reason you should always avoid burning bridges with your previous employers. Negative word gets around even faster.
I recommend creating an online business while holding you current job. It takes very little financial investment but requires some time and money to get things rolling. It’s much easier to start a successful business online when you have a steady income. It also helps to endure your job to know you are working on a way out.
Even if you have a professional career you want to continue somewhere else, it would be wise to have a supplemental income that is not dependent on an employer. This stuff is great for that too.

If you are wondering what is a keyword tool for SEO you’ve come to the right place.
If you are a webmaster, blogger or niche marketer the chances are you have heard about keyword tools. If you are new to the business you might be wondering what is SEO or what is a keyword tool and if it’s worth paying for one.
As the internet has exploded in growth in the last decade the competition for search engine ranking has become fierce. The fact is, if you can rank for a high traffic keyword on the first page of Google, you will make money on your site. Since the competition is tough, companies and webmasters are doing everything in their power to rank on the first page.
Google and other search engines of course won’t tell us the exact methods they use to rank sites. To make things worse, every now and then they change those methods. There are however certain rules that are known to be facts by information released by Google and other search engines.
There are also some things that have been shown to improve your rankings by experience. Some of these methods are very controversial. Some swear by them while others don’t believe they have any effect these days.
Keyword is a word or a phrase that your site, post, page or other content is centered around. The aim is to rank your content on that keyword in search engines. The keyword can be a single word but usually it is a phrase or even a long sentence.
Single word keywords are very hard to rank these days as the search engine algorithms are quite complex and rank your site or channel based on the overall content, so things like keyword stuffing don’t work these days.
With single word keywords you’ll be competing with established large sites with thousands of pages of content. A single word keyword could be something like computer. You would have a very tough time ranking on the first page of Google with that keyword on a new site.
Keywords consisting of sentences or many words are called long tail keywords. These are much easier to rank, if you find low competition ones.
A long tail keyword related to our previous example could be something like Best laptop computers 2018. This keyword would be much easier to rank on the first page of Google as it’s much more specific. That’s actually a great keyword with low competition, so if you have technology or computer related blog, you might want to use that.
As I told you before, the search engines rank your site based on the overall content and how well it seems to be centered around the search term. This is where semantic keywords come in.
Semantic keywords are words and phrases commonly associated with your main keyword. The search engines use these to figure out if your content is truly associated with the search term (keyword).
Search engines aim to provide the most related and valuable content when someone makes a search so it’s important to them that the search results are actually related to the search term and not just random sites that happen to have the keyword in their title or domain name.
For our Best laptop computers 2018 keyword some semantic keywords could be What makes a good lap top, Laptop computer reviews or Computer benchmark. These are just examples of the top of my head and I haven’t done any research on them so be aware of that if you decide to use them.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of affecting the visibility of your content in search engine results. It includes everything from page design to content and keyword research. Interaction within the site and social media visibility have also become important in the last decade.
As we have already established, content is the most important part of SEO these days. The quality and relevance of your content is everything when it comes to how the search engines perceive you.
Search engines like well written and long articles or posts with high relevance to the keyword. This kind of content tells the search engine algorithms that the content offers valuable information associated with the keyword, so it would be valuable to show as a search result.
Search engines appreciate website that load fast and work on all devices and browsers as the internet is used increasingly with mobile devices. That’s why it’s important to make sure your web design is clean, loads fast, works on both desktops and mobile devices and contain no dead links or other irrelevant information.
If you have lots of links pointing to removed sites or other issues with your link structure, the search engines will not like this as they want to offer their clients quality.
Same goes with sites with lots of animation and large uncompressed pictures that increase the load time. These days the internet is all about information that has to be available fast It doesn’t matter if you have the fanciest site in the world if it takes ages to load. The search engines love fast loading sites and this is especially important for mobile devices as there are data limitations.
Social sharing and interaction within your site is one other thing the search engines appreciate as this gives the signal you content is being shared so it must offer some value to others.
Comments on your site tells the search engines there is some established traffic that has shown interest in the topic. This increases your sites desirability in the eyes of the search engines.
Things that really don’t seem to have an effect on your rankings include backlinks and keyword stuffing. These can be bad or even detrimental for your site in 2018.
Backlinks were something the search engines appreciated not long ago. The reasoning was that a site that had links pointed to it by other sites, must be of value, as other sites have seen it valuable enough link to it.
This however created a whole business of creating “fake” backlinks through blog networks and other services and it has been pretty much ditched as a ranking basis. Well actually relevant backlinks from high authority domains are a significant matter but the best way to get them is to create high-quality content. People will naturally link to your site eventually once you create enough high-quality content.
Keyword stuffing is a very old tactic used in the days when the search engine algorithms were very simple and just looked for the keyword when determining how relevant the content is to the search.
Stuffing your content with keyword is frowned upon by the search engines, so use your main keyword wisely. Maybe use it in the title and mention it once in the beginning of your post but otherwise, you should write naturally and use semantic keywords.
So now that we know what a keyword is and why it’s important for SEO, it’s time to talk about keyword research tools. Keyword tool is a crucial part of keyword research needed in SEO. To rank your keyword high in the search engines, with a new site, you need to find low competition keywords with traffic. This is called keyword research.
It’s futile to write about topics no one is interested in as there won’t be any searches made. Your aim as a content creator is surely to receive some traffic interested in whatever it is your content is about. On the other hand, the more traffic a keyword receives tougher the competition will be.
This is where a keyword tool comes in. A keyword tool is used to search for keywords associated with your niche.
Keyword tools are programs that gather information from the search engines to determine the number of searches made on the keyword and it’s’s potential. Most keyword tools are browser-based these days.
A good keyword tool will offer you information on the number of searches made on the keyword, the competition for that keyword and the keywords SEO potential. They will also offer you optional keywords so you don’t need to keep guessing keywords randomly.
Pretty much all the good keyword tools are paid services. The Google Adwords keyword tool used to be pretty good but it’s not really useful for niche marketing and SEO as the metrics are geared more towards Adwords campaigns.
I use a service called Jaaxy as my keyword research tool. It’s arguably the best keyword tool around for niche marketing and thousands of marketers vouch for its effectiveness. I’ll be writing a detailed review about Jaaxy soon, but if you want to find out more right now I wrote about using Jaaxy in this post.
You can get Jaaxy Lite for free with a Wealthy Affiliate premium plan, so it’s definitely something you should consider if you are interested in creating an online business.

Jaaxy offers three membership levels and you can try it out for free. I actually use a Jaaxy Lite version that only comes with the Premium membership of Wealthy Affiliate.
That’s about it for keyword tools for today. I hope this post was useful to you. If you have any questions please drop a comment below and I will do my best to answer you!
Heard about people making money on the internet by marketing? Wondering if it’s real or possible for you? Want to learn about it without breaking the bank?
Alright folks, today I will be discussing how to learn about internet marketing for FREE. That’s right, you don’t have pay a dime to learn the basics about internet marketing. Just keep reading on.
First thing I would like to point out is that any site or plan promising instant results with little or no work is a scam. Every single successful internet marketing business has taken quite a lot of work. I’m telling you this upfront, because getting in to this business you will be bombarded with scams promising you the heavens, for a fee of course. But let’s get on with our topic.
First we’ll take a look at what internet marketing is and if it’s possible to make a living with it today. I will also show you the basic process most internet marketing businesses use to make money. Lastly we’ll look at the best free resources for learning internet marketing.
To be perfectly clear, internet marketing is a very general term. It can include anything from graphic design to content creation to search engine optimization. It might involve a blog or a YouTube channel or something completely different. But one thing most internet marketers or marketing companies aim to do, is to provide a solution to problem.
There are over 4 billion people using the internet today. And there are millions of people earning an income online. Some part-time, some full time and some are multi millionaires that have made fortunes.
There are many ways people are making money online. Just in the United States retailers spent $4.7 billion on affiliate marketing in 2016 and by 2020 U.S. affiliate marketing spend is expected to rise to $6.8 billion.
The fact is that you CAN make money online, it’s just a matter of finding the right market or niche. When you think about it mathematically it don’t require much to realize the potential that an over 4 billion user base offers. In case you are mathematically challenged, one per cent of that would still be 40 million potential customers. That’s more than the whole country of Canada!
So it’s just a numbers game. If you can tap even into the tiniest fraction of that market, you can make a very good living on the internet.
Marketing is one of the easiest ways to earn an income online. It doesn’t require substantial investment to get started since all you need is a computer and an internet connection.
There’s no need for expensive storage to hold an inventory and no need to hire labor to run the shipping etc. like when running an online store. There’s also no need to have years of education and experience like when creating new software or running an IT firm.
The internet is full of people looking for solutions to problems. Think about it. Besides checking your social media, the weather or your email, what is the biggest reason you go online with your phone or computer? I bet it is to look for information.
Whether it’s looking for reviews on a new phone, booking a hotel or finding cooking recipes, we use the internet almost every day to solve problems.
This is where the marketing comes in to picture. Marketers main goal is to be the middle man between the problem and the solution. If somebody is looking for a new phone, you offer the reviews and best prices. If someone is looking to book a hotel, you point the to the best one in their destination. If someone is looking for cooking recipes you offer them the best ones.
When you can present the solution to someone having a problem you have the chance to make money. The two most common ways are affiliate marketing and pay per click ads.
In affiliate marketing you direct the reader to an affiliate site through an affiliate link. If they decide to purchase a product there, you will receive an affiliate fee. So if someone is looking for a new phone, you review a popular model and add a link to Amazon. If the reader decides to buy the phone on Amazon, you get few percents of the purchase.
Here are some of the most common ways of internet marketing:
In niche blogging you create a blog centered around a specific niche. You build your content around keywords related to that niche to rank your content in search engines like Google with the objective to gain organic traffic.
Once you have organic traffic it’s simply a matter of monetizing the site. You can do this with affiliate marketing or ads like I showed you before.
Using our previous example, you could create a blog that reviews smart phones and then add affiliate links to Amazon for each reviewed phone.
The great thing about niche sites/blogs is that once set up they require little work and every piece of content can produce you income for years to come. This is called passive income or residual income.
This one is obvious to anyone who’s been online for the past ten years. YouTube has exploded and it’s actually the second biggest search engine after Google. Yes, that’s right, people look for information with YouTube all the time and not just funny animal videos.
YouTube has made it possible to create an income with things like playing online games, asmr, animal videos on some very weird stuff I’m sure you have come across. The way these channels are monetized is through marketing. They either get paid by Google through ads or by sponsors and affiliates that they promote in their content.
This is another popular one these days. People are making money with social media sites like Instagram, Facebook and Twitter all the time. It’s all about building a relevant following by producing interesting content. When you have millions followers it’s easy to monetize your channel. Like YouTube you could offer sponsored content or affiliate links.
Building an email list
This is usually done through a blog or niche site by offering a newsletter but there are other ways. There is this old saying in internet marketing: “The money is in the list“. If you have an email follower list of 10 000 or 100 000 people that have willingly given you their email address and are interested in your content, you can bet it’s easy to make money marketing offers to that list. Once again, affiliate marketing is the most common way to make money here. Of course, it’s possible to sell your own products as well.
If you are new to internet marketing and want to learn a proven model for making money online, there’s no better place than Wealthy Affiliate. I wrote an extensive review of their service here. The unfortunate thing about internet marketing is that the business is full of scam artists and hoaxes. Wealthy Affiliate is one of the few places where you can trust the creators and the community to not try and skin you alive.
To learn the basic process behind internet marketing, all you have to do is to sign up for free membership. You get to go through the first course of the online entrepreneur certification for free.
Just the first course is free and after that you have to pay the memebership free to learn more, I want you to be completely aware of that. How ever even the first course is packed with so much information, that it would take you a lot more time to learn that by doing your own research.
If you feel like you want to continue the training at Wealthy Affiliate after the free course, you can get the first month for only $19. If you use your time wisely you can go through the whole education program in that time. I do however recommend just becoming a long time member, as the true power of Wealthy Affiliate lies in the community and all the tools you get with your membership.
The Warrior Forum is a forum geared towards affiliate marketing and making money online. They’ve been online for a very long time. The forum is full of useful reading but you have to pick the useful nuggets yourself. There are also helpful people in Warrior Forum, but I must warn you about the “gurus” looking to make a quick buck on newbies. Don’t buy anything there until you know what you are doing.
Some of the offers there will seem very tempting. That’s because the people selling them are marketing professionals who know exactly how to push the right buttons to make you interested in their product. Do not fall for this. Also don’t fall for the War Room (their premium VIP service) trap or buying the Warrior Special deals. They are just a way for the forum owners and members to make money in expense of newbies.
I used to hang around on Warrior Forum and learned a lot about marketing for free, but I don’t like the way they push useless “Make money online instantly” offers on unsuspecting newbies to make a quick buck. And the creators allow this to happen.
I like places like Wealthy Affiliate where the creators and the community actually care about new comers.
There you have, the best free resources to learn about internet marketing. If you want to learn about internet marketing for free you will learn a lot going through the resources I pointed out here.
If you want to consider investing in an education I can recommend Wealthy Affiliate from the bottom of my heart. You will progress much faster when you have a step-by-step learn as you go education program at your use.
That’s it for now! If you have any questions please leave a comment below and I will get back to you asap.
Do you have some information you think might be useful to other people? Wondering if it would be possible to sell that information for good money? Read on to find out how to sell information online!
We are living in the age of information. When you think about it, most work done these days is either producing on processing information. As automation has replaced many manual labor jobs and the internet has become the most common media, you can rest assured this is a growing trend.
Since most work is related to information, it’s safe to say information is money. The internet has made it possible for anyone to search and to sell information. And the fact is people are making fortunes selling information online.
Before I go on how you can monetize the information you have, let’s look at some of the ways information is being sold.
Before the internet information was mainly sold in the form of books and other printed media like magazines and newspapers. You have seen the countless how-to and for dummies manuals and tutorials.
After that came audio tapes and recordings of different kinds. Shortly after them came video recordings which gave new possibilities to the visual information that could be conveyed.
As the internet became mainstream in the 90s a whole new way of searching information became possible. Anyone anywhere in the world could look for information produced anywhere in the world. While this was great for things like freedom of speech and education people soon realized the potential to make money selling the information they had.
There are essentially two ways to produce information to sell. You can either be very specialized in a subject – an expert if you will – and already know more than anyone else about your field. If you are willing to share your information, (for compensation of course, It’s only fair to get paid for your know-how.) all it requires is putting your knowledge in a marketable form. This might mean writing a book or creating a website for example.
The other way is to specialize in processing information produced by others. I want to make perfectly clear this does not mean stealing or plagiarizing other peoples content. It means finding the solution to a problem people are having by doing research. You then combine only the necessary bits from here and there to offer a solution. You’d be surprised how many problems there are waiting to be solved.
So why would someone want to sell information online, can you make real money with it? Well the answer is yes, yes you can.
Here’s the thing. If you write a book and that book ends up being a best-seller that sells millions of copies, you will be getting paid for years or decades for the effort you put in to producing that book. It’s of course very hard to write the best-selling book but it’s actually not that hard to produce valuable information and sell it online. You just have to know what people are looking for and find a way to introduce your information to them. And just like with books, once produced, the content will potentially bring you income for years to come.
The internet is so full of information that it usually takes people a lot of time researching when they are looking for a solution to a problem they are having. That’s why people are willing to pay good money if someone has done the dirty work of researching for them and offers a solution to the problem they are having.
The other good reason is that you get to help people by producing content and products from information you probably feel passionate about and are very knowledgeable in. There are few things in life that offer a greater sense of accomplishment and pride than knowing your work is helping people all around the world.
The fact is, if you possess true expertise or are good in looking for information you can make a living selling information online – and that living can be a very good one if you work hard.
People have made millions by blogging, content creation and selling information products. What do you think, would those people have rather used their time working for someone else?
It’s possible to achieve a completely passive income by selling information. If you set your business up right your information content will do the work for you on automation. It of course takes quite a bit of work to create the content in the first place.
Let’s look at some ways you can start selling information online today.
Anyone can sell information online but to get someone to buy it is a different story. For anyone to be interested in the information you are offering it has to be specific, helpful and unique.
Unique doesn’t mean you can’t combine information produced by others but it’s pointless to sell information that is common knowledge and available to anyone for free with a quick search.
Your role is to solve problems if you wish to sell information. This can be anything from helping people to lose fat to teaching how to sing or even building V8 engines. Anything really that requires know-how to accomplish.
So the first step is to find out what problems people are having in the niche you are in. Let’s take the building V8 engines as an example (I’m not an expert in this subject but I do know something about combustion engines and the mechanics involved so this is just an example from the top of my head).
So let’s say you’ve been building engines all your life and know pretty much everything there is to know about building engines and you might have some valuable knowledge to offer to people. Remember, this could be anything, this is just an example.
I would start by doing something called alphabet soup in Google to start looking for what people are searching for. You take your main keyword, in this example V8 engine and put it in to Google search and insert alphabets after (or before) the main keyword to see what Google suggests. The suggestions Google comes up with are likely real searches people have made and will give you great ideas.
Here’s couple examples:
So here I gathered four things people are looking solutions for: V8 engine architecture, best V8 engine to build, cheapest V8 engine to build and V8 engine tuning.
I would then do some keyword research on those terms using a keyword research tool. I use a service called Jaaxy, you can try it for free for 30 searches. There are others but this is the one I’m familiar with and thousands of other people are using it with good success.
Let’s see what Jaaxy comes up with our Google suggestions:
I’m not going to go very deeply to the Jaaxy parameters here but what we are looking for is some decent traffic and low competition. I wrote more about using Jaaxy here. Avg and Traffic tell us the average amount of searches for that exact term/month and the amount of traffic you can expect if you rank on the first page of Google on that term. QSR tells us the amount of competing sites for that exact term.
So with a quick search Jaaxy tells us right away that the Google suggestions are actually very low in traffic and it would really make no sense to aim for those keywords. But this doesn’t make our research a failure. Jaaxy gives suggestions related to your search, so let’s see what we can find there:
From this list I picked the keywords build your own v8 engine and how to build engine. They both have some traffic and pretty low competition (I aim for QSR below 100). The competition is especially important when creating a niche website to sell your information. If you use paid traffic, the amount of searches might be more important in some cases.
How to build engine seems like a great keyword at first glance. It has low competition and good traffic but it is actually a part of a sentence or a misspelled sentence as it’s missing the article an. So let’s see what it looks like if we add that missing word in:
Spelled correctly the keyword has a bit more competition but it’s still very good. Let’s go with it. In reality, it’s quite a broad term and I would go for something more specific but for the sake of example this will do just fine.
So you are someone who knows all about engines and you think you could offer a solution to people looking for information on how to build engines. The next thing would be to create a solution. There are many ways to go about this, you could:
Those are just a few examples, the options are many. The most important part is to create useful targeted information about a real problem and then finding a way to offer that information to the right people.
One of the best ways is to create your own niche website as you will actually own this. When you create content in YouTube or in social media you are actually producing content for them, on their terms. The company might remove your content with your hard-earned traffic in a blink of an eye. If creating a niche website is something you might be interested in, check out this post.
Once you have established content and traffic it’s time for final piece of the puzzle, monetisation. There are a few ways to accomplish this (these are the ways I’m aware of, I bet there are more options however).
Your own product
The first option is to make your own product like an ebook, a tutorial video series or even a complete education site with paid subscriptions.
To get people to buy your product you could create a “squeeze page” with a sales pitch. You would then drive your traffic to that landing page to get sales.
One of the most powerful ways to get buyers would be offering your product to affiliate marketers in places like ClickBank. You would offer up to 70% of your sales profit to the affiliate marketers.
It might seem very stupid to offer the lions share of your profit to the marketer but once you realize how powerful motivated affiliate marketers can be for your business you understand this is a win-win situation for both parties.
If you have a quality product and you are willing to share the profits, the marketers can do the dirty work of driving traffic to your squeeze page through their channels (websites, YouTube channels, social media, email lists etc.). You just need to make sure your product is top quality and your sales page converts well. Then you just sit back and watch the money roll in. The affiliate marketers of course make good profit on your product.
The other way to make money with your information is becoming the affiliate marketer yourself. This could mean creating a niche website, like the building engines we talked about earlier. You would then offer free information to people in the form of blog posts, free ebooks or YouTube videos and include affiliate links related to that niche.
In the building engines niche you could for example write a long tutorial about building high performance valve heads to a specific engine and then offer a parts list from an affiliate site like Amazon or some big car part dealership that offers an affiliate program.
This is just a scratch of the surface of selling information online but these are methods regular people are using every day to make an income online.
If you are interested in selling information or making money online, I suggest you read my Wealthy Affiliate review. It’s pretty much the best place to get started with this stuff. It takes time to make an income online but it’s totally doable. You just need guidance because there are certain things you need to know to succeed and the competition is tough these days.
That’s all the time I have right now but if you have any questions, drop a comment below and I will do my best to answer them for you.
That’s it for now, thanks for reading!
