Is Retargeting Machine Legit Or A Scam? [2020 Review]

Welcome to my Retargeting Machine review! If you are wondering is Retargeting Machine a scam or a legit way to improve your Facebook ad campaigns, I'm here to help you out!

Retargeting Machine is the creation of the FB marketing "Guru" Wilco De Kreij. He's best known for his marketing service Connectio.

Introduction and Summary

There are a lot of trainings on Facebook ads and on marketing in general and it can be a daunting task to try and find the one’s that offer actual value and aren’t just overprized

I happened to pick up Wilco De Kreij’s Retargeting Machine from sale for $37 and for that price I can definitely recommend it.

Just the credentials of these guys were enough to convince me to spend the few bucks to get his course.

Wilco has invested over 2 million of his own money to FB ad campaigns and has been featured in many medias a Facebook ads expert. That’s more money than most folks make in their entire career where I live btw.

More importantly, it means he must’ve learned a lot in the process and become successful. I’m always willing to learn from people that have actually walked the path instead if rehashing information.

Before we continue with the review, I want you to know that I’m not affiliated with Retargeting Machine in any way and I’m not using this review as a ploy to try and get you to buy it through an affiliate link.

There are a lot of those so-called “affiliate reviews” around there that will simply tell you what you want to hear to get you to buy the product.

I’m just sharing how I liked the program and try to open it up a bit so you can make a better decision if it’s something you want to invest in.

That said, I do recommend products I’ve used extensively from time to time to monetize my site.

If you are new to online business, you might be interested in my #1 recommendation, Wealthy Affiliate. It’s a platform that thought me how to build a couple of money-making websites.

The truth is that just running FB ads is going to get you nowhere. You need business and products to advertise. So if you don’t have an existing business or a website, definitely check out my recommendation.

But without further ado let’s get on with the review!

What Is Retargeting Machine About?

Retargeting machine is a Facebook marketing training created by FB ads guru Wilco De Kreij. If you are not familiar with his approach, he’s big on targeting the right customers with your ads and then retargeting them to improve your ROI.

The carrying idea in Wilcos training is that targeting is more important than anything because if you are not presenting your offer to the right people, they will not buy no matter how good your ad copy, sales funnel and products actually are.

More importantly, he talks about the “Seven times rule”. It’s a theory that no one will buy from you until they’ve stumbled on your ad, brand, or product at least seven times.

And this is where FB ads retargeting comes into play. The retargeting machine teaches you how to create effective retargeting campaigns so you get to improve your ad conversion rates significantly.

If you are not familiar with what retargeting is, it basically means targeting people with follow up ads once they have clicked your initial add.

So the real magic happens when you have a good offer, find the right target audience and then retarget them once they have shown initial interest. And do it enough times for them to recognize and trust you.

What Does It Cost?

Retargeting machine normally costs $197 but it was available for a huge discount for $37 dollars with bonuses when I bought it. As I’m writing this, it doesn’t seem to be available currently, but I’m sure Wilco will run a new campaign soon enough.

If you are not familiar with the pricing in online digital products, they almost never are sold for their “full-price” but often run in discounted limited-time campaigns. It’s just a marketing trick to increase desirability. But everyone does it, so I’m not going to blame Wilco for it.

Still, any marketer worth their salt will not run their “one-time-offers” again at the same price points because they risk losing the customers they’ve already built trust with. But it still happens.

But either way, I’m sure Retargeting machine is available at a price point well below $197 as you are reading this. It’s very likely you wound up here after seeing one of his ads, after all, so he is probably running a campaign.

What Do You Get With Retargeting Machine?

So what does the course actually entail and what do you get by buying it?

The core of the course is a 7-day training and execution plan called The Retargeting Machine Playbook. It teaches you how to use the FB Pixel to create effective retargeting campaigns.

The “Retargeting Machine” Playbook consists of a 7-day execution checklist, an interactive mindmap, and some case studies how effective this strategy is when applied correctly.

The offer I bought included four “bonuses” (that I suspect have always come with the product):

Bonus 1: 10 “Retargeting Ad” Templates

  • Ready-made Ad Templates to create your own campaigns
  • Video Instructions
  • Examples

Bonus 2: “Audience Building Machine” Course

  • A training about a content formula to attract an audience if you don’t have a website or visitors yet

Bonus 3: “Email Retargeting Machine” Course

  • A short course about implementing retargeting in email marketing. Includes case studies.

Bonus 4: “15 ROI Boosters for Facebook Ads” Masterclass

  • 15 practical ways to boost your Facebook Ads return on investment.

The bonuses are video training as well, so you can access everything within Connectio’s learning center.

How Does Retargeting Machine Work?

The training is a very simple and actionable step-by-step process that you can access on Wilcos Connectio.io platform.

You will also receive daily emails for each part of the course but they are basically just reminder emails without any additional information.

In reality, you can access all the training any time and you can go through it at your own pace.

I can’t go into too much detail about without giving away too much information for a review, but here are the topics for the 7 days of the base program:

  1. Introduction
  2. The Pixel
  3. Preparing your ads
  4. Ad Templates
  5. Creating Your Ads
  6. Bonus: Email retargeting
  7. Bonus: Audience building

As you can surely gather from the topic he will cover why retargeting is very important and he will then show in a very practical way how you can implement retargeting campaigns in Facebook ads.

The course walks you through using the Facebook Pixel and understanding retargeting. After that, you will learn how to prepare effective ads.

He then shows effective ad templates that are based on actual case studies and hundreds of hours of testing.

One of the best features of this course are these ad templates that you can use to create campaigns for your own business.

I don’t know about you, but just seeing someone do it for their business doesn’t really cut it for me. It takes a lot of effort to come up with the ideas and copy for your campaigns so this was definitely a nice bonus and my favorite feature.

Is Retargeting Machine Legit?

In my opinion Retargeting Machine was a very clear and useful training with very actionable information.

I haven’t used the strategies extensively yet but the preliminary results are promising and I have no reason to believe they wouldn’t be effective.

I will update this review once I have run retargeting campaigns for a few weeks to see the results.

Of course with every training you have to remember is that you are the greatest variable. Your results will vary on your own efforts and ability to apply what you learn.

More importantly your niche, brand, product, and target audiences will greatly affect your results with these strategies.

But for the money, I think having a bit of the knowledge and experience Wilco has acquired over the years is well worth it.

Pretty much the only annoying thing about the course and Wilcos marketing is the overuse of marketing tricks like “one time offers”, “bonuses” (that seem to actually obe part of the course) and up-sells in his sales funnel.

I think there were at least three up-sells in his sales funnel. I can’t remember all of them as I didn’t record the process of buying, but at least two of them were subscriptions to his services.

Also, his sales letter claimed that because of the bonuses his offer was worth $896, and for this one time, it was available for a ridiculous price of $37. I’d be extremely surprised if he ever sold those same products for even close to 900 dollars. Or over $100 for that matter.

I know he uses these tricks for the simple reason that they are effective. At least to the majority of his target audience.

But people who know how these sales tactics work are generally just annoyed by them and it just eats away his credibility. Somehow it reminds me of the sales copy I’ve seen in the 90s and early 2000s.

Good products don’t need overt marketing tricks to be desirable. And I honestly think Wilco’s base product is desirable. So I just hope he tones down the marketing just a notch, even if it means losing a sale or two initially.

I suspect the customers he gets would actually trust him more in the long run.

So if you can get past the overt marketing and see there’s a legit training in there, you will very likely find the training useful. Just beware of the upsells and don’t buy anything unless you are absolutely sure you need it to move forward.

Conclusion

I hope you found my review useful and it helps you make the decision if you want to purchase this training. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section below and I’ll get back to you asap.

Wilco De Kreij definitely knows what he’s talking about when it comes to Facebook ads so I was glad I managed to grab this training for a very affordable price.

I can recommend you get it if it’s available for a reasonable price at the time you read this review.

While his information isn’t anything you can’t find for free online (there are tons of retargeting tutorials on YouTube) he has actually walked the walk. I’m a big proponent of learning from people who actually know what they are doing.

So in my opinion his experience and insight is worth the few dollars. But like I said before, I’d prefer if he took down the marketing just a notch.

If you don’t have a business, a website or visitors yet, definitely check out my recommendation in the beginning and you can also join my free 7-day course where I help you create your initial website.

Thanks for reading and if you found the review useful, remember to share on social media!

Great review on retargeting machine and whether it’s a legit program. I learnt a great deal of information about this company and how it work. I am really glad that I’ve read this review before signing up for it. I can surely find similar level of information for free online. Thank you for the insight.

Glad you found the review useful Habib! I do think you can learn a lot of this information for free, but the truth is that the templates and very actionable training are well worth the money. There are a lot of little details you need to figure out on your own.

Hi there and thanks so much for this informative review.
I’ve been looking into this for quite some time and many people have told me that because it’s a facebook thing, it will certainly work. I don’t think anything is certain but your review has definitely helped with my decision.

Glad I could help Marketa! Facebook ads are definitely effective, even though they are getting more saturated and expensive as pretty much every single company uses them these days. All the more reason to listen to the people who have actually done successful campaigns.
